Planting For Healthier Waterways
0.2L Ellepot Riparian Plants on Special
Riparian planting makes a real difference to the health of our streams and rivers. Strong roots hold banks together, plants filter runoff before it reaches the water, and a mix of species provides food and shelter for wildlife. This spring, we’re making it easier to get started with special pricing on our 0.2L Ellepot range — the ideal size for riparian projects of all scales.
A successful riparian planting is usually built in layers:
- Stream Edge: Along the water’s edge, grasses and rushes like Carex secta (pūkio), Cyperus ustulatus and Juncus species help stabilise soil and slow erosion.
- Mid-bank: On the mid-bank, hardy natives such as Coprosma, Cabbage Trees and Flax (Phormium tenax) provide shade, cover and habitat.
- Upper canopy: If you’ve got space, tall natives like Kahikatea are well suited to damp ground and can restore the canopy that’s often missing from lowland areas.
Most of the key riparian species are included in our 0.2L Ellepot specials this spring, giving you an affordable way to get planting. Quantity pricing is available also, so the more you plant, the more you save!
