Quercus cerris x Tuber aestivum

Turkey Oak - Burgundy Truffle

Broad, open form. Vigourous once established. Suitable for timber or mixed shelter. Hardy; tolerates dry and exposed sites. Inoculated with the Summer/Burgundy Truffle (Tuber aestivum syn. T. uncinatum).

T. aestivum and T. uncinatum, Summer truffle and Burgundy Truffle, are one and the same species. It grows mainly on oak trees and can be found from late spring until autumn. Produces truffles with excellent gastronomic qualities, often used fresh in haute cuisine, that can also be bottled. Intensive aroma with a taste reminiscent of hazelnut. Much easier to grow than Black Truffle (T. melanosporum).

All 2025 plants are now allocated, but we are taking expressions of interest for the 2026 and 2027 seasons. If you’re planning ahead, get in touch with our truffle team to register your interest.

We strongly recommend proper site preparation and prior-research before planting our truffle inoculated trees. For more information click here.
