Quercus cerris x Tuber aestivum
Broad, open form. Vigourous once established. Suitable for timber or mixed shelter. Hardy; tolerates dry and exposed sites. Inoculated with the Summer/Burgundy Truffle (Tuber aestivum syn. T. uncinatum).
T. aestivum and T. uncinatum, Summer truffle and Burgundy Truffle, are one and the same species. It grows mainly on oak trees and can be found from late spring until autumn. Produces truffles with excellent gastronomic qualities, often used fresh in haute cuisine, that can also be bottled. Intensive aroma with a taste reminiscent of hazelnut. Much easier to grow than Black Truffle (T. melanosporum).
Most of our current crop has already been allocated, however we are taking expressions of interest for the remaining 2027 supply. To discuss availability, please contact truffles@southernwoods.co.nz
We strongly recommend proper site preparation and prior-research before planting our truffle inoculated trees. For more information click here.

How does shipping work?
Freight is calculated automatically at checkout for smaller orders. For bulkier consignments, we’ll be back in touch to confirm a freight price. See our Shipping Information for more details.
North Island Customers: Shipping costs can be significant (and sometimes exceed the plant value), so combining items into a larger order helps keep it cost-effective.
