Populus ‘Mapiu’

Populus ‘Maipu’ is a fast-growing hybrid poplar valued for its strong, upright form and smooth bark. Bred from P. maximowiczii and a fastigiate P. nigra, it shows good disease and possum resistance, with excellent stem form and branching well suited to pruning. Hardy and tolerant of frost and wind, it performs particularly well in inland Canterbury, though it is not recommended for coastal sites. Enquire for prices on larger quantities.
