A large, fast-growing green sedge. Attractive stream-side and wetland plant, with many fine examples along the Avon River in Christchurch. Its large root system is great for holding together drain and stream edges, preventing erosion. Arching foliage will rise on "trunks" after many years. Prefers wet soils. Evergreen. Hardy.

Cupressus arizonica 'Blue Ice'

 

Cupressus arizonica varglabra 'Blue Ice' is a compact, conical selection of Arizona cypress with exceptionally attractive, frosty, silver-Blue foliage. This stunning tree adds contrast in colour, texture and that familiar Christmas tree form to the garden.

This cultivar is Kiwi bred, originating as a seedling selected in 1960 by Duncan & Davies Nursery, New Plymouth, who subsequently introduced it to the nursery trade in 1984.

'Blue Ice' will becomes a substantial tree over time. It is extremely tolerant of hot sun, drought and exposure making it a good choice for a low maintenance garden.

This daisy bush is a medium-sized, much-branched, box-like shrub, perfect for a low native hedge. The leaves are small, thick, oval and yellow-green in colour. The flowers are carried at the branch tip. Evergreen. Hardy.
