Quercus ilex x Tuber aestivum

Holm/Holly Oak - Burgundy Truffle

Broadly-spreading with a dense habit. Hardy; tolerates a wide range of site conditions. Inoculated with the Summer/Burgundy Truffle (Tuber aestivum syn. T. uncinatum).

T. aestivum and T. uncinatum, Summer truffle and Burgundy Truffle, are one and the same species. It grows mainly on oak trees and can be found from late spring until autumn. Produces truffles with excellent gastronomic qualities, often used fresh in haute cuisine, that can also be bottled. Intensive aroma with a taste reminiscent of hazelnut. Much easier to grow than Black Truffle (T. melanosporum).

We strongly recommend proper site preparation and prior research before planting our truffle-inoculated trees, click here for more information.
