Open spreading shrub or small tree tolerant of drought and exposure. Leaves are medium to dark-green, slightly shiny. Attractive reddish/purple autumn colour. Nice masses of small yellow flowers in mid-winter which develop to cranberry-like sour red fruit which is edible and attractive to birds. Fine leaves trim well into a hedge. Deciduous. Hardy.
