Quercus leucotrichophora x Tuber aestivum
A medium-sized evergreen oak tree of from inland Asia. This rare and unusual tree has stiff leathery foliage with silver-green undersides and edible acorns. Requires moist, free-draining soils. Wind tolerant. Evergreen. Frost tender.
Tuber aestivum, Tuber uncinatum, Burgundy or Summer truffle is one and the same truffle. They grow mainly on oak trees and can be found from late spring until autumn. The Burgundy truffle has excellent gastronomic qualities and it is used fresh in haute-cuisine, but can also be bottled. Its aroma is intensive with a taste reminiscent of hazelnut, maybe not quite in the same league as the more famous black truffle (T.melanosporum) but it is much easier to grow.
We strongly recommend proper site preparation and prior-research before planting our truffle inoculated trees, click here for more information.
