Corylus avellana x Tuber melanosporum
A fast-growing plant, normally grown as a single trunk tree. It grows best in sheltered areas with fertile soil and consistent moisture levels. Tolerant of cold temperatures. All varieties require cross-pollination in order to produce nuts. Our seedlings stem from a mixed orchard with the varieties Alexandra, MDB & Whiteheart.
The Périgord truffle is one of the most commercially valuable truffles in the world because of its powerful, sweet aroma. The dark brown, warty-skinned fruiting bodies can reach up to the size of a grapefruit. Truffles become ready for harvest in mid-winter, and grow best in high alkaline limestone soil with either an Oak or Hazelnut host tree.
We strongly recommend proper site preparation and prior-research before planting our truffle inoculated trees, click here for more information.
