A tall pyramidal tree, endangered in the wild. Forms an elegant conical spire of tiered limbs sweeping downwards, with deep glossy green foliage banded white underneath. The most admired of all firs. With age, the tree has smooth grey checkered bark. Female cones are a rich purple brown and 13cm long at maturity. Evergreen. Hardy
